Environmental Detection &
Operational Use Cases

Biohazard Dogs® are trained to identify environmental biohazard indicators across healthcare, infrastructure, and environmental systems to support screening, verification, and risk reduction.

Detection is non-diagnostic and environmental only. Dogs do not assess individuals or replace laboratory testing.

What Detection Represents

Biohazard Dogs identify odor signatures associated with environmental conditions, not specific diagnoses or confirmed hazards. Their role is to:

  • Identify areas requiring investigation
  • Highlight contamination risk zones
  • Support targeted sampling and testing
  • Verify cleaning and remediation outcomes

All detections require confirmation through appropriate laboratory or environmental testing.

🔷 Tier 1

Operational Detection

Active Deployment Capabilities for immediate facility value.

Clostridioides difficile (C. diff)

Use Cases

  • Post-discharge room screening
  • High-touch surface evaluation
  • Cleaning verification
  • Outbreak prevention support

Why It Matters

C. diff spores persist in the environment and contribute to recurring exposure risks if not eliminated.

MDRO-Associated Contamination

Targets (Environmental Patterns)

MRSA, VRE, CRE — Pattern-based environmental detection to identify sanitation gaps.

Primary Locations

  • ICU, Oncology, and Dialysis environments
  • Shared equipment screening
  • Surface contamination mapping

Mold, Moisture & Biofilm

Microbial Growth

  • Water damage investigations
  • HVAC and wall cavity inspection
  • Biofilm in plumbing systems

Operational Focus

  • Hidden moisture detection
  • Drain and plumbing evaluation
  • Wastewater-related risk zones

Chemical & Airborne Hazards

Subcategories

  • Anesthetic Gas: OR leaks and recovery area residue
  • Chemical Accumulation: Disinfectant overuse
  • Air Hazards: VOC accumulation & air quality concerns

Use Cases

  • Staff exposure monitoring
  • Ventilation performance checks
  • Cleaning protocol assessment

Vector & Container Contamination

Vector & Infestation

  • Rodent colony detection (attics/crawlspaces)
  • Nesting & biological contamination mapping
  • Vector-associated risk reservoirs

Container & Freight

  • Cargo container odor investigation
  • Organic decay in shipping environments
  • Sealed environment hazard screening

Scope Limitations

To ensure clarity and compliance, Biohazard Dogs® do NOT:

  • Diagnose disease
  • Identify individuals
  • Replace laboratory testing
  • Make medical decisions

Dogs indicate environmental conditions only. All findings must be confirmed through appropriate laboratory testing methods.

A Multi-Environment Detection Framework

Identify hidden risks earlier. Focus investigation efforts. Validate remediation effectiveness. Reduce uncertainty. Screening supports action; Testing confirms findings.
